Using Splitfriday

When something looks wrong

Six real situations, in the order of how often they happen. Find yours, follow the fix. If yours is not here, write to info@splitfriday.com - a human reads it.

Takes find your case belowYou finish with: the problem named and fixed, or on its way to us
1

The sign-in email never arrives

Check spam first - that catches most of them. Then send it again from the login page, watching for a typo in the address: we send to exactly what you type. There is also a polite limit on how many links we send in a row; wait a minute between tries. Corporate inboxes with strict filters sometimes take a few minutes.

2

An earner is stuck on amber (Onboarding in progress)

Amber means Stripe still wants something from them - usually a clearer ID photo or one missing field. The fix is always the same: they open their personal link again (resend it with Resend invite, or copy the onboarding link from their card and message it to them). The link resumes exactly where they stopped and shows what is missing. Meanwhile their money is safe - shares for an unfinished earner simply wait in your Stripe.

3

An order says a payout failed

Open the order - the split table tells you the reason in plain words and how many times it has been retried (it retries every hour by itself, so a temporary hiccup heals with no action from you). The two real causes:

  • The earner never finished their payout setup - see case 2 above; the payout completes on the next hourly run after they finish.
  • Stripe disabled their account after the sale (rare - a failed verification). The earner needs to resolve it with Stripe through their link; the money keeps waiting safely until then.
4

Settings shows a currency warning

Your Stripe cannot yet pay out the currency you charge in. In your Stripe dashboard: SettingsBank accounts and currenciesAdd a bank account in your charging currency, then press Re-run checks in Splitfriday Settings.

5

A buyer says they paid but there is no order

Give it one minute first - the payment notice usually arrives within seconds, occasionally slower. Still nothing?

  • Check Settings: is the checklist green, including First webhook event received? If that one never turned green, payment notifications are not reaching us - press Re-run checks, and if it stays red, write to us with your workspace name.
  • Check your Stripe dashboard's Payments page: if the payment is not there either, the buyer's payment did not actually go through - that happens, cards fail quietly.

Reassuring detail: even a notification that goes missing is caught later - Splitfriday re-checks unpaid orders against Stripe and recovers payments that arrived silently.

6

The health card in Settings shows amber

The health card is the system watching itself. Amber with overdue payouts points you to case 3. Amber about the background job (the hourly runner that releases payouts) lasting more than a couple of hours means something on our side needs a kick - write to info@splitfriday.com with a screenshot; we watch the same signal from our side and are usually already on it.
